It Is Well-Finding Peace in the Storm
As we brace for the upcoming hurricane, I want to take a moment to encourage you. Whether you're in New Orleans or facing the storms of life, remember that you have more power than you think. While we cannot control what is to come, we can control how we respond and what happens next.
In times of stress, it's important to protect your mind, body, and spirit—especially your womb. Stress, if left unchecked, can impact your health in ways you may not even realize. As a woman who is committed to wellness, I encourage you to use this time to release and think higher.
Meditation: Calming the Inner Storm
One of the best ways to ease stress is through meditation. Meditation allows you to center yourself, even in the midst of chaos. Here are some tips to get started:
Find a Quiet Space: Sit or lie down in a comfortable position, away from distractions.
Focus on Your Breath: Take deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth, letting go of tension with each exhale.
Release the Stress: As you breathe, imagine releasing the fear, anxiety, and stress you are holding onto. Visualize them leaving your body.
Positive Affirmations: Speak peace into your life. Say, "It is well" or "I am in control of my response, and I choose peace."
Try this for 10 minutes or longer if you can. You’ll feel a sense of calm, no matter what’s happening outside.
Journaling: Reflect and Release
Journaling is a powerful way to process emotions and clear your mind. During stressful times, writing your thoughts down can help release what's weighing on you. Here are some journal prompts to guide you:
What are my biggest concerns right now, and how can I release control over what I cannot change?
What am I thankful for, even in the midst of this storm?
How can I prioritize my health and well-being during this stressful time?
What does 'It Is Well' mean to me in this season of my life?
Journaling isn’t just for the tough times; it's also a way to track your personal growth and express your emotions.
Mindful Eating:
Stress can make us crave comfort foods, and I used to be a stress eater myself. But during challenging times, it’s important to be intentional about what you put into your body. I highly recommend detox waters, fruits, and veggies. These will not only nourish your body but also keep your stress levels in check.
Here are some ideas:
Detox Water: Infuse your water with cucumber, lemon, and mint for a refreshing drink that helps cleanse your system.
Snack on Fruits and Veggies: Reach for fresh fruit, carrots, or celery when you feel the urge to snack.
Keeping your body healthy will help you manage stress more effectively.
Get Creative:
Finally, sometimes the best way to relieve stress is to get creative. Whether it’s coloring, creating a vision board, or crafting something new, creative outlets can help you refocus and ground yourself. Tap into your creative side and let that energy flow into something positive.
No matter what storm you're facing—whether it’s the weather outside or life’s challenges—remember this: It is well. You have the power to protect your peace, release your stress, and take control of how you respond.
Stay safe and take care of yourself. You’ve got this.
Always Love,
